Community members of Ga Phaudi are hoping for an end to crime as the Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, officially opened Phaudi Police Station on Friday, 14 March 2025, at Ga Phaudi in Moletjie, Limpopo Province.
Among the dignitaries attending the official handover were Kgoshi Kgabo Moloto wa Boraro of the Batlhaloga nation, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, and National Commissioner of Police Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola.
Phaudi Police Station is set to be part of the police’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security in communities as well as provide policing services in high-density areas. The National Commissioner of Police, General Sehlahle Fannie Masemola, highlighted that SAPS remains committed to expanding police infrastructure nationwide to ensure greater access to policing services for communities across the country.
In his address, Minister Mchunu highlighted the significance of the new police station as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to deliver essential services to the community, with an aim to maintain peace and stability in the region. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the community in the fight against crime, encouraging citizens to report criminal activities, even those involving family members, assuring that their identities would remain confidential.
“Community members previously had to travel long distances to access policing services at Seshego and Matlala,” he added.
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba stated that Phaudi Police Station would serve 36 villages across Moletjie, including Marowe, Lonsdale, Flora, Maupshe, and Ramoshoana, among others. The station is equipped to provide a full range of services, including a victim-friendly room to accommodate victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
The unveiling of the plaque, followed by the cutting of the ribbon, marked a significant moment at Phaudi Station, led by Minister Senzo Mchunu.
