Polokwane – A dream has turned into reality for the talented disabled artist Mbuli Malefetsane Samuel, passionately known by his fans as Hennie. He had been fitted with prosthetic legs and received all the medical support at Pietersburg Hospital in Polokwane on the 17th of July. Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba and the MEC of Health Dieketseng Mashego celebrated Mandela Month by displaying a powerful symbol of compassion by bringing the musician’s dreams to life.

Hennie caught the attention of Premier Dr. Ramathuba during his exceptionally remarkable live performance at the COSATU May Day event at Peter Mokaba Stadium, showcasing his unique performance styles despite his physical limitations. His talent and tenacity motivated the premier to pledge to see to it that he gets the medical care he requires.

The pledge later took a turn of reality when Dr. Ramathuba, along with MEC Mme Dieketseng Mashego, commemorated Nelson Mandela Month by delivering on the promise.

Ramathuba reflected on the journey that led to Hennie receiving prosthetic legs at Pietersburg Hospital. “We are doing this, emulating the call of Nelson Mandela, of extending a helping hand to the needy and vulnerable,” she said.

The gift of prosthetic legs signifies more than just mobility; it represents a renewed sense of freedom and independence for Hennie.
